29 Sep 2022

Here at Rekkruut, we encourage enterprise. Not only do we want recruitment consultants to use our tools and resources to work independently, but we also want to encourage consultants to start their own business with Rekkruut.

We allow recruiters to start your own business as a self-employed freelancer with zero costs. You don’t need to open up an office, you don’t need to hire anyone else. All you need is a mobile device or desktop, and all of your recruitment enterprise is stored on one app – Rekkruut.

You will have full access to our database, and can use our app as the main way to communicate with your clients and candidates discovered on our platform. Read here for our article on how to register your own business if you are wanting to be self-employed through Rekkruut.

Are you ready to start your own business with Rekkruut?

While Rekkruut gives you the tools and resources for your recruitment startup, we advise that you have a good knowledge of recruitment – where you are capable of working by independently on your enterprise.

Rekkruut supplies you with a database of candidates and clients, and we also provide you with channels to communicate with them. However, it will be your responsibility to liaise with both parties, negotiate salaries, market candidates, help with CVs, etc. So, you should have experience with doing all things associated to recruitment.

Before you start building your enterprise, it may be a good idea to know if you’re ready.

Using our METS (Marketing, Enterprise, Technology and Skills) Framework, look at whether or not you’re ready to take the big step and venture out on your own!

METS Framework

1. Market

It’s important to know the market, whether that’s one you’re experienced in, or a new one you haven’t worked with before. Rekkruut works only in the construction and technology/software industries, so if you haven’t worked with these before, it would be a good idea to do your own research!

Here’s what you should do when researching any market:

a) Identify the information you need – the basic information you’ll need to know is: job roles, salaries, working hours, qualifications, and skills required for the jobs. While you don’t need to memorise this, it’s a good idea to have a basic understanding. For example, when recruiting for construction, the average hourly rate for an electrician is £35-£60, and they work at least 40 hours per week on average. Maths, science and technology are useful skills to have, and it may be useful to have a Level 3 NVQ.

For more useful information on careers, nationalcareers.service.gov.uk gives a great insight for particular jobs.

b) Look at particular companies who are competitive in the industry – understanding which clients may be most interested in a potential business relationship is essential when recruiting. This helps when deciding who to approach.

c) Recognise the strengths and weaknesses of the industry. As a salesperson, it’s important to understand whether there are any gaps in the market or clients you’re wanting to work with.

Once understanding these points, you can put together a strategy for boosting the strengths and mitigating the weaknesses of particular organisations in your target market. Explain how your services help them fill the gaps in their recruitment.

For example, if there are clients who fail to meet recruitment deadlines, help them understand how you can save their time by doing all of their recruitment for them. Even better, compile a list of interviewed candidates before making contact to catch their attention almost immediately!

d) Understand the active roles being sought after. By doing a quick search on a job board or company’s website, you can get a good idea of the roles some clients may be actively looking to fill.

This knowledge is vital because you can then use this as a selling point. Having a selection of candidates to hand will be a great way to spike the interest of a potential client. If you get in touch with them and tell them that you have some candidates ready to interview for a specific role, then they’d be silly to turn down the offer!

2. Enterprise

Another important trait to have before deciding to carry out your own business with Rekkruut, is to have the entrepreneurial hunger to grow an enterprise. Ambition is a key requirement for success, so it’s essential that you actually want to leave your current employment (or work on top of your current employment) to start your own enterprise.

Build a network of other entrepreneurs, focus on how you’re going to build your brand, maybe even start a business plan! When putting together a business plan, you should focus on the following:

  • An Executive Summary (brief description of business, the main problem you’re solving, target audience and key financial information)
  • Business Description
  • Industry Analysis (Competitor Analysis)
  • Market Analysis (Customer Segmentation – primary and secondary research)
  • Marketing Plan
  • Operations Plan
  • Financial Plan

Building a business plan helps you control the direction of which you want the enterprise to grow. It’s also beneficial for any potential investors to revise before investing into a company.

While you won’t really need any investment to start your business via Rekkruut, it’s certainly a good idea to put together a business plan to understand which direction you want to go in. For example, our app could be the first steppingstone towards your future enterprise, where you use Rekkruut as a way to build capital to open up your own agency.

Remember: To start with at Rekkruut, all you need is the skillset, a smartphone/desktop, and a desire to build your own business.

3. Technology

Technology is becoming a day-to-day necessity in the lives of recruiters. Whether it’s an online database, social media, or speaking via video call, technology is something you probably always use when recruiting.

While having technical skills isn’t a requirement, it can certainly help you expand the horizons of your business plans. Therefore, having a technological mindset is very useful for all aspiring entrepreneurs.

You can source candidates easier, promote the brand more efficiently, and communicate faster. Technology enables businesses to run smoothly, and to operate faster.

Rekkruut will be your key to unlocking your true potential, where we provide recruiters with access to our databases, communicating via instant messaging and video call with candidates and clients. You can manage all of your recruitment enterprise using our platform as an essential tool. Using our technology will certainly improve your chances of commencing a successful business – hence why it’s beneficial to have a basic understanding of using technologies.

Below are the crucial skills required to start your own recruitment enterprise:

  • Leadership
  • Listening
  • Reliability
  • Patience
  • Organisation
  • Communication
  • Confidence
  • Ambition

While the above highlight desirable soft skills for being a company director, here are some of the hard skills which can make you a great recruitment consultant on Rekkruut:

Even if you feel you may lack in any of these, don’t let that knock your confidence! There is plenty of time to learn the process, and Rekkruut is wanting to help in any way possible.

I’m ready to start my own enterprise, how can Rekkruut help?

We want to empower individual consultants who want to take the leap of starting their own business, and we do this through minimising start-up costs for independent recruitment consultants. All you need to do is create a profile, then you can connect with clients and candidates.

We want you to place jobseekers with employers on our platform, and you will receive 75% of the fees you generate.

We’ve worked out that if you place 6 candidates per month, you can earn up to £100,000 per year* before tax. We will also help you by giving out consistent rewards. So, if you refer any other recruitment consultants onto our platform, you may be eligible to receive a lump sum of cash once they place their first two candidates!

Not only this, but we will give out placement milestone bonuses. This is where you receive cash for placing a specific amount of candidates – with the rewards increasing at each stage!

We do this because we want to help you start your own recruitment business by yourself – without the need of working for an agency. Why let agencies take the majority of your fees when you’re the one doing all the hard work? Be in control of your own business.

We plan on helping you with constant recruitment tips. Whether that’s through The Resource Hub, or through our helpful push-notifications which provide you with regular tips on recruitment.
